The Estonian Street Photography Exhibition, which opened in August 2020, has been completed into a book in Estonian and English. Between the covers, a section of 40 years of Estonian street photography is stored.<\/p>\n

The book contains works from the forty years of Estonian street photography, which tentatively began in 1980\u2014the deep Soviet era. In addition, the book includes works influenced by Estonia’s re-independence in the early 1990s and the Western culture of the 1990s. The street scenes of the new millennium opened up a time perspective that is more familiar to us but brought significant changes in its time. The time trajectory of the works gathered in the book ends in 2020.<\/p>\n
According to Toomas J\u00e4rvet, one of the book’s compilers, this is a pivotal moment in Estonian photography. The book, beyond being a platform for the authors’ artistic self-expression, serves a vital role in preserving the street scene, a significant part of our culture, for future generations.<\/p>\n
